"Tegeta Green Planet" held a presentation for partners on Extended Producer Responsibility

On July 12, an event dedicated to the goals and obligations of environmental responsibility organizations and extended Producer's Responsibility was organized by Tegeta Green Planet, a subsidiary of Tegeta Holding.
Tegeta Green Planet Director Shalva Akhvlediani introduced the guests to the organization's activities and spoke about partners' involvement in the process of proper waste management, the importance of extended producer's responsibility, and existing regulations. "Tegeta Green Planet" offers corporate clients of "Tegeta Motors" the opportunity to hand over waste oil, batteries, and tires to the company's collection points. After that, Tegeta Green Planet will provide transportation of specific waste and deliver it to licensed recycling facilities.
Shalva Akhvlediani, Director of Tegeta Green Planet: The main concern of Tegeta Green Planet is environmental protection, which implies the management of specific waste and includes its utilization, recycling, and recovery. The purpose of our event was to inform Tegeta's corporate clients about the opportunities offered by our organization. We want to gather even more like-minded people in caring for the environment and take steps to increase the positive impact with them."
About 100 people attended the event and were told about the opportunities within the extended Producer's Responsibility. Among them were representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and partner organizations.
Solomon Pavliashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia: "Today we heard the results of 6 months of work of Tegeta Green Planets, an Extended Producer's Responsibility organization. One should be really proud of the fact that during this period they have built a network, and logistics and organized 46 waste collection points. The numbers are also worth mentioning: in the last 6 months, with their help, about 500 tons of batteries, 500 tons of oil, and 600 tons of waste tires have been removed from the environment. It is important that this process continues at the same pace and that other businesses are also involved in such important work for the environment."
For Tegeta, caring for the environment is part of its corporate social responsibility strategy, and it is with this idea in mind, the holding company established another subsidiary, the non-profit organization Tegeta Green Planet, in 2022.
"Tegeta Green Planet was one of the first organizations in Georgia to be authorized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. The organization is responsible for fulfilling the extended producer's responsibility, which means the producer/importer's commitment to its own products even at the next stage of consumption of these products - during the entire product life cycle. There are about 45 Tegeta Green collection points across Georgia, including Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Kazbegi, Telavi, Gori, and Poti.
