When Change Begins with One Person’s Choice

Sometimes, great change does not begin in big cities. It starts with one person’s decision, one idea, and the belief that a better future can also be built right where you are.

Tegeta Green Planet supports people and initiatives that strive to create new opportunities for their communities. Diana Sakhuria is one such person. She left the city and moved to the village of Oktomberi in Samegrelo, where she decided to build a future for herself and her children in her own country.

Diana faced a choice: leave the country or stay in Georgia, remain with her children, and start a new life in her own village.

She chose to stay.

In the yard of her home, Diana created a space that gradually became an important place for local women and children to meet, learn, and grow. Here, they share experiences, develop new skills, read, learn, and take part in various activities. At the heart of the space is the idea of bringing people together and creating opportunities for them.

The Tegeta Green Planet team visited the village of Oktomberi and explored the space Diana created. She shared the story of how the idea came to life, introduced us to local women and children, and showed us how one person’s decision grew into a shared community initiative.

Meeting the people who use the space and contribute to its story every day was especially meaningful to us. Their experiences once again show that the impact of local initiatives goes beyond any single project. They bring people together and strengthen their belief in their own abilities and potential.

Supporting Diana’s initiative is part of Tegeta Green Planet’s commitment to social responsibility. We believe that meaningful change in a community often begins with small but genuine initiatives like this one. Our goal in supporting them is to help people who are working to build a better future in their communities access new opportunities for growth and development.

In the village of Oktomberi, at Diana’s home, that change has already begun — with one person’s choice that is gradually reaching many more people.
