The Light Vehicle Diagnostics course at Tegeta Academy began with a presentation by Tegeta Green Planet. The meeting was attended by participants aged 17 to 33, who, alongside learning about their chosen professional field, also received information about automotive waste management and environmental responsibility.
During the meeting, Shalva Akhvlediani, Director of Tegeta Green Planet, introduced participants to the organization’s activities, goals, and the importance of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). The discussion also focused on the connection between the automotive sector and environmental responsibility, as well as the importance of properly collecting and managing waste such as used tires, waste oils, and automotive batteries.
Shalva Akhvlediani also explained the EPR principle, under which producers and importers are responsible for managing waste generated after their products have been used. As an EPR organization, Tegeta Green Planet helps companies fulfill these obligations and ensures the collection and management of relevant waste streams.
One of the key parts of the presentation focused on tire management. Participants learned about the journey of a used tire from collection to recycling and how waste can be transformed into a source of new resources.
The meeting also covered RECSOL, Tegeta’s tire recycling plant, which represents an important infrastructure project in the field of used tire recycling. At the plant, used tires are processed into materials that can be used for various purposes, creating opportunities to manage waste in line with circular economy principles.
One of the main goals of Tegeta Green Planet is to contribute to a system in which waste is not an endpoint, but the starting point for creating new resources. Achieving this requires not only appropriate infrastructure, but also greater public awareness and access to information about where and how waste can be properly handed over.
For Tegeta Academy participants, the meeting was also an opportunity to connect professional education with environmental awareness. It is particularly important for future professionals in the automotive sector to become familiar, from the early stages of their education, with the responsibility that connects their future work with environmental protection.
Tegeta Green Planet will continue to cooperate with young people, educational institutions, and the private sector to further promote knowledge about specific waste management and encourage responsible practices.
