Tegeta Green Planet Representatives Visited Schools in Borjomi

Environmental protection and sustainable development are among the most important challenges facing the modern world. In response to these challenges, Tegeta Green Planet launched an educational initiative aimed at raising environmental awareness among young people and fostering a sense of responsibility toward the environment.

Tegeta Green Planet has been operating since 2022. It is one of the first organizations in Georgia to obtain authorization from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture within the framework of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). This is particularly significant because the EPR system is one of the key pillars of modern environmental policy, ensuring the full management cycle of specific waste streams - including used tires, waste oils, and batteries—from collection and transportation to recycling and further management in accordance with the principles of the circular economy.

As part of the initiative, company representatives visited Public Schools No. 6, No. 3, and No. 4 in Borjomi, as well as Kvibisi Public School, where they conducted informational meetings, presentations, and interactive workshops for students.

Borjomi is one of Georgia’s most distinctive regions, renowned for its unique natural environment, forest ecosystems, and mineral waters. For this reason, environmental protection and the sustainable management of natural resources play a particularly important role in the region’s development. Educating local youth and raising their environmental awareness are essential prerequisites for preserving Borjomi’s natural heritage and ensuring its continued development in line with sustainable development principles.

Tegeta Green Planet introduces students to the importance of managing specific waste streams, explaining how used tires, batteries, and waste oils should be handled, why their proper management is essential for environmental protection, and how these processes are connected to the circular economy. Students also learn how waste can be transformed into a valuable resource and how responsible behavior by individuals contributes to environmental protection and sustainable societal development.

The visits follow an interactive and practical format. The program begins with presentations, after which students participate in various activities and educational games designed to help them better understand and retain the information. Participants actively ask questions, discuss environmental challenges, and share their own ideas on how to create a more environmentally friendly community at the local level.

At the end of each workshop, participants receive symbolic gifts, providing additional motivation and making environmental stewardship a more engaging and memorable experience.
