Tegeta Green Planet Named Its Special Award Winners Within the “Education for a Green Future” Competition

As part of the environmental events organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia on World Environment Day, the Environmental Information and Education Center hosted the closing event and teachers’ award ceremony of the project “Education for a Green Future.”

The project aims to support and encourage preschool and primary school educators who actively use environmental and agricultural educational resources in the learning process and make a significant contribution to raising environmental awareness among children and young people. This year, nearly 150 teachers participated in the competition, presenting diverse, creative, and results-oriented projects focused on environmental education.

The event was also attended by Tegeta Green Planet, which has been operating since 2022 and is one of the first authorized Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) organizations in Georgia. The EPR system is an important environmental policy instrument that ensures the collection, transportation, recycling, and proper management of specific waste streams-such as used tires, waste oils, and batteries-in line with circular economy principles.

As an organization committed to environmental responsibility and education, Tegeta Green Planet selected its own special award winners within the competition. The company recognized Ketevan Tskhvariashvili (Kakabeti Public Kindergarten No. 2, Sagarejo Municipality), Darina Malatsidze (Mikeltskaro Public School, Kaspi Municipality), and Sopio Gvelesiani (Kutaisi Public School No. 40).

To encourage and reward the winning educators, Tegeta Green Planet presented laptops to both kindergarten and school teachers. Supporting initiatives that strengthen environmental education, promote sustainable development values, and foster responsible attitudes among younger generations remains a key priority for the company.

For years, “Education for a Green Future” has contributed to integrating environmental topics into the educational process and bringing together educators who use innovative approaches and professional experience to help create a more sustainable future for the next generation. Projects like this once again demonstrate that education is one of the most important foundations for environmental change, while teachers are the driving force behind this process.
