Director of “Tegeta Green Planet” Shalva Akhvlediani informed partners in the Adjara region about the activities of the organization, proper waste management and rules within the framework of Extended Producer Responsibility.
“Tegeta Green Planet” offers “Tegeta”'s corporate clients the opportunity to return used oils, batteries and tires to the company's collection points. “Tegeta Green Planet” then ensures that the specific waste is transported and delivered to licensed waste treatment facilities.
Shalva Akhvlediani, director of “Tegeta Green Planet”: “It is important for us to introduce partner organizations to the opportunities that “Tegeta Green Planet” gives them in terms of waste recycling. We want to bring together even more like-minded people on the issue of caring for the environment and, together with partner organizations, increase the positive impact. The main concern of “Tegeta Green Planet” is the protection of the environment, and the main goal of our activities is the management of specific waste, its recycling, processing and recovery. By involving more companies in this procedure, the process will become even more efficient.”
About 80 people attended the event, which highlighted the opportunities available under the Extended Manufacturer Commitment. Among them were representatives of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, as well as the government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and the Batumi City Hall, as well as members of partner organizations.
Solomon Pavliashvili, Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia: “It’s good that there was great interest in today’s event from the business sector of the Adjara region. We told them in detail about the goals of extended commitment organizations. I think such meetings will be very effective in achieving sustainable goals. As for “Tegeta Green Planet”, its activities are based on the principles of a circular economy. They already have 45 waste collection points and are planning to open additional logistics centers in the Adjara region. Among them, points for recycling car tires, batteries and oils should be created. This will be another step forward in promoting the circular economy.”
For the “Tegeta” company, caring for the environment is part of the corporate social responsibility strategy, and it was with this idea that another subsidiary organization, “Tegeta Green Planet”, joined the holding in 2022. There are about 45 “Tegeta Green Planet” collection points throughout Georgia, including Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Kazbegi, Telavi, Gori and Poti.
“Tegeta Green Planet” is an organization that is part of “Tegeta Holding” and has been operating since 2022. The company was one of the first in Georgia to receive permission from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture as part of Extended Producer Responsibility” to handle waste tires, oils and batteries. At the first stage, the organization collects the above-mentioned specific waste in accordance with regulations, ensures its transportation, processing and further management in accordance with the rules of the circular economy.
