Tegeta Green Planet participated in Social Design Days, a three-day conference dedicated to circular design and sustainable innovation, hosted by the Design Institute.
As part of the event, Tegeta Green Planet's Director, Shalva Akhvlediani, joined fellow speakers in a panel discussion focused on Georgia's experience in developing the circular economy, the challenges currently facing the sector, and future opportunities.
During the discussion, Shalva Akhvlediani highlighted the progress Georgia has made in recent years toward advancing the circular economy. He noted the significant steps taken to improve waste management systems, implement the principles of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and strengthen the country's recycling culture. According to him, these initiatives provide a solid foundation for more efficient resource use and the development of responsible consumption practices.
The discussion also emphasized that the concept of circularity is not entirely new to Georgia. For generations, careful use of resources, repairing items, reusing products, and passing them on from one generation to another have been an integral part of Georgian culture and everyday life. However, modern consumption patterns have significantly changed these traditions, making it increasingly important to combine these long-standing values with contemporary circular economy approaches.
Shalva Akhvlediani also stressed that the key challenge in advancing the circular economy is not limited to technology or regulations. In his view, meaningful progress depends on active collaboration among designers, architects, creative professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders. Their expertise is essential for developing products, services, and environments that are designed from the outset to use resources efficiently, extend product life cycles, and facilitate recycling.
Social Design Days served as an important platform for knowledge sharing and strengthening cooperation among representatives of different sectors. Events of this kind contribute to the wider adoption of circular economy principles and encourage the development of solutions that support the country's sustainable development.
Tegeta Green Planet remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote the circular economy, responsible resource management, and the reduction of environmental impact.
