On November 6, a meeting was held at the Georgian Business Association on the issue of VAT taxation of waste management and Extended Producer Responsibility organizations. The representatives of the Georgian Business Association, the Ministry of Georgian Environment Protection and Agriculture, the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, Revenue Service and Ministry of Internal Affairs took part in the meeting.
At the meeting, they discussed the draft of amendments proposed by the Revenue Service, to be included in the order of the Minister of Finance of Georgia, and the issue of VAT taxation of Extended Producer Responsibility organizations.
The project proposed by the Revenue Service establishes rules for writing off goods that are unfit for use or further delivery to Extended Producer Responsibility organizations. The project was positively evaluated. However, based on the review, it is planned to make small adjustments to the project.
At the meeting, the participants discussed the peculiarities of imposition of taxes on Extended Producer Responsibility organizations and, based on the mandatory specific activities of Extended Producer Responsibility organizations, the parties agreed regarding the subject of taxation with VAT, that in order to finally resolve the issue, active communication between the representatives of Extended Producer Responsibility organizations and the Ministry of Finance will continue.
